湯姆．賴特（N.T. Wright）為英國「西敏寺座堂」（Westminster Abbey）的 “Canon Theologian”，他從英國牛津大學取得神學博士學位，並獲英國亞伯丁大學頒授榮譽神學博士學位。他曾先後在劍橋大學、蒙特婁大學及牛津大學教授新約研究多年，並擔任牛津神學院的院牧直到1994年，之後擔任英國Lichfield大教堂的主任牧師，然後在2000年到西敏寺擔任該職。針對基督教的起源以及基督教與當代的關聯，他曾寫過30多本書，同時他目前也是「聖經文獻學會」（Society of Biblical Literature，SBL）「歷史耶穌」（Historical Jesus）分組的主席。賴特博士也經常在廣播和電視中受訪。他已婚，四個孩子都剛邁入成年。
