This book explores a rich variety of early Christian imagery used by biblical writers and early Christian teachers such as Cyprian, Ignatius of Antioch, Tertullian, Clement of Alexandria, and Origen to describe the communal aspect of Christian faith and life. This emphasis stands in contrast to the individualistic approach of so many of the expressions of modern Western Christianity.
